Participants of the All-Russian Summer Gathering “RUSSIA – LAND OF SCIENTISTS. MEDICINE OF THE YOUTH” to Continue Collaboration and Project Work in International Teams

June 26, 2026

The All-Russian Summer Gathering “RUSSIA – LAND OF SCIENTISTS. MEDICINE OF THE YOUTH” (June 22–25, Moscow) brought together 40 young researchers and medical solution developers from across Russia and 7 friendly nations: the Republics of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan; India, China, and Sri Lanka. Russian physicians represented medical universities from Vladivostok to Lugansk.

The 2026 gathering marks a pivotal event for the organizer, the V.P. Filatov International Foundation for Biomedical Technologies Development. In 2026 — over the 6 years of implementing the “All-Russian Scientific School ‘MEDICINE OF THE YOUTH'” project — the Foundation has elevated its support programs for young scientists to the international level.

The gathering was organized with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Rossotrudnichestvo, the National Center for Historical Memory under the President of the Russian Federation, and the Presidential Grants Foundation.

The objective of the “RUSSIA – LAND OF SCIENTISTS. MEDICINE OF THE YOUTH” gathering is to establish collaborations among researchers from different countries to implement healthcare projects. The event serves as an entry point for participants into long-term cooperation.

All gathering participants conduct their own applied scientific research and development; they were selected through project pitch sessions in 14 cities across Russia and other countries. The event enables them to find new team members and thus advance along project roadmaps toward clinical implementation.

Ekaterina Dibrova, President of the V.P. Filatov International Foundation for Biomedical Technologies Development, outlined the interaction framework for gathering participants:

– Two models for implementing joint medical projects have been selected: consortium and open science. The “Open Science” vector is suited for researchers seeking new fundamental knowledge and willing to share data, hypotheses, and experimental findings without barriers. The “Consortium” direction focuses on delivering an end product, joining the efforts of laboratories, engineering centers, and manufacturing teams to guide an idea from prototype to real-world clinical implementation, — stated Ekaterina Dibrova.

Cooperation agreements previously concluded by the V.P. Filatov Foundation and joint fieldwork at pitch sessions and scientific conferences with major research centers and organizations from friendly nations — Xi’an Medical University, Samarkand State Medical University, Indian consulting company Edicine, and others — enable medical diplomacy at a high level.

One of the participants, Madhan Jeyaraman, orthopedic surgeon and lecturer in regenerative medicine at Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre (India), expressed confidence that communication among young scientists will continue well after the Gathering:

– My work focuses on scientific research that lays the groundwork for the science of tomorrow — the kind that will go down in history. Even when we are gone, scientific research lives on. What we develop today will grow into a flourishing tree tomorrow. That is precisely why I eagerly look forward to cross-border projects with Russia and other countries. We came here to build a community of like-minded professionals moving forward together!

The program of the Gathering included a tour of a major pharmaceutical manufacturing plant; an international session exchanging best clinical practices across diverse medical traditions; project presentations on the sidelines of the PREVENTMED forum; interactive formats: the “Sell Your Case to an Investor” business simulation and a biomedical quiz, among others.

Following the Gathering, 8 young scientists — the winning team of the interactive session, received internship opportunities at high-tech Russian companies, courtesy of the Moscow Center for Innovative Technologies in Healthcare (Medtech).

Oleg Glazachev, Scientific Director of the V.P. Filatov Foundation, informed gathering participants that cooperation begins with submitting applications to the main “MEDICINE OF THE YOUTH” contest, the results of which will be announced in December.

The top 20 authors of the most promising works will earn the opportunity to join the Foundation’s acceleration program of the same name: undergo a 12-week course in technological entrepreneurship, collaborate with mentors to mature their developments, and spend an eventful working week in Moscow. This program includes direct engagement with legislators, prominent contemporary scientists, visits to innovative production facilities, and participation in business events.
