President of the V.P. Filatov Foundation Outlined Future Prospects for “MEDICINE OF THE YOUTH” Participants

June 23, 2026

The All-Russian Summer Gathering “RUSSIA — LAND OF SCIENTISTS. MEDICINE OF THE YOUTH” brought together over 40 young medical scientists from across our country and 7 nations from near and far abroad in Moscow.

They represent the Russian medical school from Vladivostok to Lugansk, Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Medical Sciences (India), Xi’an Medical University, Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine, Chengdu Medical College (China), and state medical universities of Belarus, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.

One of the key events of the Gathering was the International Session dedicated to the centenary of public diplomacy: “HEALTH OF THE NATION: CULTURAL AND EDUCATIONAL CODE”. The gathering was held at the Alexander Solzhenitsyn House of Russia Abroad with the support of the National Center for Historical Memory under the President of the Russian Federation.

Opening the session, Ekaterina Dibrova, President of the V.P. Filatov International Foundation for Biomedical Technologies Development, drew the participants’ attention to opportunities for ongoing collaboration — within the “MEDICINE OF THE YOUTH” project.

– A window of opportunity is now opening for your projects. This primarily involves forming international teams. Two models for implementing joint projects have been selected: consortium and open science. The international track will be guided by high-caliber professionals and distinguished experts.

At the international session, participants discussed how discoveries by medical scientists of different countries and eras — such as Academician Vladimir Filatov and Academician Nikolai Burdenko — continue to evolve today; how legendary research institutes transform in response to global challenges; and why the ancient Chinese “Canon of Herbs and Needles”, Avicenna’s treatises, and the medieval Indian treatise “Sushruta Samhita” remain relevant. Presentations were delivered by alumni of national medical schools and specialized academic departments.

Elena Malysheva, President of the National Center for Historical Memory under the President of the Russian Federation, took part in the event. She stated that the Gathering exemplifies public diplomacy in action.

– I want to emphasize another dimension of turning to medical history. It teaches our young doctors from various countries a distinct culture of communication, as they tune into professional friendship. This means mutual enrichment of scientific medical clusters and forward momentum, — added Elena Malysheva.

Olga Shestova — Editor-in-Chief of the imprint “MEDprof: Atlases, Books for Physicians” / EKSMO, also endorsed the V.P. Filatov Foundation’s initiative to integrate historical and cultural dimensions into the Gathering’s program.

– The ongoing evolution of the ‘MEDICINE OF THE YOUTH’ project carries, in my view, significant national importance. We are eager to continue supporting the project and donating books from our publishing house. Books — are vital to expanding researchers’ intellectual capacity, empowering them to make new discoveries that they later translate into practice.

Maryam Omarova, a general medicine student at Stavropol State Medical University, called the session inspiring. The young researcher is developing a project on “Prediction and Analysis of the Antibacterial Potential of Synthesized Plant Extract-Based Hydrogel Films Using Molecular Docking”.

– My work is aimed at treating burns without conventional antibacterial therapy — to prevent antimicrobial resistance. According to some researchers, antibiotic resistance will escalate dramatically by 2030. My approach integrates both traditional wisdom and contemporary scientific vision.

The final day of the Gathering will be dedicated to exploring advanced longevity practices, along with interactive formats — the “Sell Your Case to an Investor” business game and the celebrated “Biomedical Quiz”.
