The Foundation’s Historical and Patriotic Project “Physicians of the Great Victory” to Be Presented in Novosibirsk

February 9, 2026

Unique archival materials on Soviet military physicians, compiled and curated into a thematic exhibition by the Foundation team and its partners ahead of the 80th anniversary of the Victory, will serve as the centerpiece of a cultural initiative in Novosibirsk. City authorities formally requested historical photographs and documents from the V.P. Filatov International Foundation for Biomedical Technologies Development.

The materials will form a dedicated exhibition in the Novosibirsk Metro (a traveling mobile exhibition). This initiative is taking place within the framework of the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, inaugurated on February 5 by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

According to project organizers in Novosibirsk, the “Physicians of the Great Victory” series will be complemented by documents, letters, and photographs detailing the work of local evacuation hospitals during the Great Patriotic War. The Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the CIS will co-organize the exhibition.

“Physicians of the Great Victory” was first unveiled as an exhibition on April 18, 2025, at the Tauride Palace in St. Petersburg. The organizers were the V.P. Filatov Foundation and the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, supported by the National Center of Historical Memory under the President of the Russian Federation and the Military Medical Museum (St. Petersburg).

The exhibition highlighted the courage and heroism of doctors, nurses, orderlies, and feldshers from all USSR republics under field conditions. Particular attention was dedicated to Academician Vladimir Filatov, whose pioneering development ― tissue therapy ― saved the lives of thousands of wounded combatants, including prisoners of war.

The digital version of the exhibition has been published on the website of the National Center of Historical Memory under the President of the Russian Federation.

Subsequently, the exhibition became part of the long-term online project “Medsanbat” of the Ministry of Health of Russia, aimed at preserving historical memory and promoting international cooperation in healthcare.

The V.P. Filatov Foundation continuously researches and archives historical records related to medicine, its distinguished figures, and the evolution of scientific concepts. These archival materials are available on the Foundation’s website. Publishing activities are also pursued. The most extensive work was the reprint of the original 1961 4-volume edition of Academician Filatov’s “Selected Scientific Works.”
