International Scientific School “MEDICINE OF THE YOUTH”

The “International Scientific School ‘MEDICINE OF THE YOUTH'” project has been implemented since 2021 within the framework of the Decade of Science and Technology declared by Decree of the President of Russia. Starting in 2026, the project has gained international status.

The organizer is the V.P. Filatov International Foundation for Biomedical Technologies Development, with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Federation Council, and the Presidential Grants Foundation. Scientific support is provided by Sechenov University and the Medical Scientific and Educational Center of Moscow State University (MCOR MSU).

Over the previous five years (2021–2025), more than 1,400 applications were submitted to the contest from 70 regions of Russia and several partner countries — Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India, China, and Serbia. In 2026, the project expands internationally: the geography of participants is broadened, envisioning joint research projects, exchange of best practices, and the signing of cooperation agreements with foreign medical universities.

The project calendar includes several key stages. In spring, from April 1 to June 1, federal and international pitch sessions are held, after which 40 winners are invited to the All-Russian Summer Gathering “RUSSIA – LAND OF SCIENTISTS. MEDICINE OF THE YOUTH”, held in Moscow at the end of June. Concurrently, from April 1 to October 31, the main scientific paper competition is conducted; expert evaluation concludes on November 15, selecting 20 finalists who earn the opportunity to participate in the “INNOVATION LEADERS” scientific and educational program from December 2 to 9. The year’s culminating event will be the VI Scientific and Educational Forum “MEDICINE OF THE YOUTH” with international participation, scheduled for December 8 and expecting over 600 participants.

The strategic objective of the project is to engage young medical scientists (students, postgraduates, clinical residents, physicians, and researchers under 35, as well as Doctors of Sciences under 40) from Russia, CIS countries (Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan), and BRICS+ nations (India, China, Serbia) in resolving practical healthcare challenges at early stages of their careers. Participants of the Summer Gathering receive 2 bonus points when submitting entries to the main contest, while finalists of the “INNOVATION LEADERS” program receive covered travel and accommodation from the organizers. Applications can be submitted on the official project website; all organizational inquiries are handled through the Foundation secretariat.
